Full Form of LTE

The full form of LTE is the Long Term Evaluation. Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the fourth generation (4G) communication standard for high speed wireless data communication for cell phones and data terminals.

Long Term Evaluation

Long-Term Evolution is a standard for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals, based on GSM / EDGE and UMTS / HSPA technologies. Increases capacity and speed by using a different radio interface along with improvements to the fabric.

How does LTE work

The LTE network employs a multi-user variant of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme, called orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), for the downlink signal.

OFDMA enables the LTE downlink to transmit data from the base station to multiple users at a rate greater than 3G, with improved spectral efficiency. The single carrier FDMA signal is used for the uplink signal, which reduces the transmit power required by the mobile terminal.

The higher LTE layers are based on the Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol, resulting in an Internet Protocol based network similar to wired communication. LTE supports mixed data, voice, video and messaging traffic.
